More information on our Governors:
I became a school governor whilst my 2 daughters were at Blessed Sacrament. I am keen to ensure any child that comes to our school gets the best possible education and a really good grounding for the future.
Mr Tony Gunderson Chair of Governors
Mr Paul Whelan Vice Chair of Governors
I was invited to join the Governors some 20 years ago by a certain Fr. Garvey. Since then I have learnt a huge amount about the primary education system in this country and have had the pleasure of working with many exceptional members of the BS team. In my day job I work in IT for a large multi-national bank and I bring my experience of financial planning/budgeting, employment law and people management to my role as Foundation Governor. I am currently chair of the Finance & Buildings Committee.
Miss Annette McAvoy
I was a pupil at Blessed Sacrament and have very fond memories of my time at the school. When it was time for my son to start school I had no hesitation in selecting Blessed Sacrament Catholic Primary School for him. Once my relationship with the school was renewed I wanted to be more involved so I applied to be a school governor. I am a bank manager and bring my experience of HR procedures, leadership skills and finance along with fund raising and helping in the community.
Mrs Christine Armstrong
I was a secondary teacher for 33 years, and head of year for over 20 of them. When I retired and had time to spare I decided to offer my services to Blessed Sacrament as a governor, I went to school there and so did both my children. Skills include listening, empathy with children, experience of risk assessment and health and safety issues when organising school trips.

I am currently a secondary school teacher and a parent at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Primary School. I have become involved with the Governors as the Local Authority Governor. I am also the chair of the Standards and Effectiveness Committee.
Miss Clare Fitzgerald
Being a Governor is a key aspect of my role as Headteacher. I support Governor colleagues in all committee and full Governing Body meetings linked to the Leadership and Management of the school. Apart from to advise and guide, my role is to ensure the highest quality up-to-date and accurate information is shared with Governors about all aspects of school life, as well as being there to answer those all important challenging questions.
Mr Christopher Davey
Having worked at Blessed Sacrament for four years, I felt it was important that I became more involved in the wider life of school and particularly the business of how the school is run. I feel that my role as a staff governor gives me the opportunity to see the school from a different perspective to that of a class teacher.
Mrs B Marsden
I have been a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish Community for over 30 years, and was keen to renew my relationship with the school, when my children enrolled. I work as an Assistant Head Teacher at a secondary school for children with severe and complex learning difficulties on the Wirral.
Mrs C Dunn
Blessed Sacrament school motto is ‘aim high- live life to the full ’ which, as a parent with a child currently in school, is an ethos I wholeheartedly support and wanted to be involved in facilitating. This is why I volunteered for the of Governor . I come from a non educational background but have numerous transferable skills which I hope will be put to good use during my five year tenure as parent governor.
